Cruises from Madrid

Madrid is the capital of Spain, a city that captivates with its rich history, stunning architecture and unique atmosphere. It was founded in the 9th century, it was started with a fortress called Majerit, established by the Moors to protect themselves against the advancing Christian armies moving south on the Iberian Peninsula. In 1083, during the Reconquista, Majerit was conquered by Christian forces led by King Alfonso VI of Castile.

From that point, the settlement began to develop as a Christian city, and its name evolved from Majerit to Madrid. Madrid's history is filled with significant events. In the Renaissance era, in 1561, King Philip II moved the capital of the Spanish Empire here, marking the beginning of its golden age. Nowadays Madrid is renowned for its magnificent palaces, museums, and squares that reflect the grandeur of its past. The Royal Palace is one of Madrid's most majestic buildings. This luxurious palace, constructed in the 18th century, serves as the official residence of the Spanish royal family and is open for visitors. Its splendid halls, exquisite paintings and stunning views of the city are amazing.
