Odessa is a port city in Ukraine located on the shores of the Black Sea. This is both an economic city of primary importance in the country, but also a tourist city.
Built in the eighteenth century, under the guidance of Catherine II, at a time when Ukraine was annexed to Russia. He wanted to create in the south of his empire, on the shores of the Black Sea, an equivalent of St. Petersburg.
The old city was once the center for trade of the Russian Empire, as well as an intellectual and artistic center before the revolution and during the Soviet Union. It is worth exploring its wide tree-lined avenues and grand parks.
Start your escape from the ferry terminal, continuing from the famous Potemkin staircase, 142m long, with 192 steps. Built between 1834 and 1841, it was made famous through Sergei Eisenstein's film (Battleship Potemkin).
At the top of the stairs, you arrive at the statue of the Duke of Richelieu, governor of the city from 1803 to 1814. A few steps away is the Opera Theater, a splendid 19th-century building. Then visit the archaeological museum where you can admire a collection of rare documents relating to the history of the Black Sea coast. Finally, reach the naval and oriental and western art museum.
The climate of Odessa is mild and dry with average temperatures in January of -2°C and 22°C in July.
With Crimea, Odessa has the most beautiful sandy beaches that we can find in Ukraine. The most famous is certainly Arcadia beach.
This place is a very beautiful environment for holidaymakers who love to combine culture and relaxation. The city is a first-rate tourist destination, with many pubs and discos, miles of sandy beaches and some southern atmosphere.
