Siem Reap
Siem Reap, located in the north-western area of Cambodia, is renowned as the gateway to the Angkor region. In this city, ancient history, cultural richness and modern tourist services blend perfectly, making Siem Reap a fascinating destination for travelers. The city is the ideal starting point for visiting one of the region's most famous attractions: Angkor Wat.
Originally built as a Hindu temple, it was later converted into a Buddhist temple and is now the largest religious monument in the world. The temple complex is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and attracts millions of tourists every year. In addition to Angkor Wat, the Angkor Archaeological Park includes other significant temples such as Bayon, known for its massive stone faces, and Ta Prohm, famous for the trees that grow from its ruins.
Cultural richness is a strong point of the city. If you are an art lover, a visit to the National Museum of Angkor and the Cambodian Mine Action Museum are essential stops. If you want to taste the local cuisine, Siem Reap is the right choice: there are many lively markets that offer a taste of Khmer cuisine, with popular dishes such as Amok (a coconut milk curry) and Lok Lak (stir-fried beef). While you eat, you can watch traditional Apsara dance performances. The Aspara dance is one of the oldest Cambodian royal ballets, performed by women dressed in tight traditional clothes, whose gestures are coded to narrate myths and religious stories. The city also has a lively nightlife with numerous bars, pubs and restaurants.

Phnom Penh
Phnom Penh, the capital and largest city of Cambodia, is a very lively metropolis, known for its rich history, cultural heritage and the rapid modernization that has characterized recent years.
Located at the confluence of the Mekong, Tonle Sap and Bassac rivers, Phnom Penh is a city that offers a unique blend of historical richness and contemporary vibrancy. These characteristics make the city a fascinating destination for both history enthusiasts and more modern explorers. The city became the capital of Cambodia under French colonial rule in the 1860s. This period saw significant urban development and the introduction of French architectural styles.
Phnom Penh has gone through a phase of significant modernization which has led to the construction of new skyscrapers, shopping centers and infrastructure projects that have transformed the urban landscape. The rapid urbanization, which has characterized recent years, has meant that balancing modernization with the conservation of historical and cultural sites is a continuous challenge for the city.
For history lovers, the city offers many beautiful museums and places to visit. The Royal Palace, a complex of buildings that serves as the royal residence, is one of the main attractions. Another must-see visit is that of the National Museum which houses a vast collection of Khmer art, including sculptures, ceramics and ethnographic objects, which offer a vision of the country's history from prehistoric times to the present day.
